What's the next step?

The issue is no longer about what he did or didn't do, what he should or shouldn't have done. The issue is "What will happen next?"

The Republicans know that they have a majority and, therefore, the power to remove President Clinton from office. Since they have the power, and since he isn't a Republican, they have no questions about why, but simply when.

If they do push for removal, they think they will get an easy route to a Republican Whitehouse next year. However, the American public will view this action as mean-spirited. Public opinion polls clearly show that the people support censure, not removal. In the next election, we may find Republicans losing seats because people will want to send a message that they didn't feel the proceedings were fair.

Maybe that's overly optimistic. So, what's a realistic strategy for Clinton to use to stay in the Whitehouse?
